The Hall of Fame welcomes the Class
of 2010. Fifteen new members entered the Hall of Fame this
year, and Party Marty was awarded the Akers/Grindle award for his
outstanding service to the Hall. This year was perhaps one of the most fun parties
in recent years. There were more great raffle prizes than ever
before, the food was fantastic and service was smooth and quick, and
the jam session was fabulous! This is our only fund raising
event of the year, and the support from the Wabash Valley was simply
incredible. The Board extends their gratitude to all who
participated in this year's event.
The Hall of Fame gratefully acknowledges our sponsors, whose
gracious donations support our efforts:
The Music Shoppe
The Conservatory of Music
Community Theater of Terre Haute
HI-99 Radio
The Crock Radio
Zamberletti's
ISU Athletic Department
Dicky James and the Blue Flames

The 2010 induction ceremony is
scheduled for January 31, 2009 at the Terre Haute V.F.W. Post 972.
Food service will start at noon and the festivities will last until
at least 6:00 p.m. Last year, we were required to end at 6:00
p.m., but we have worked out an arrangement with the Post this year
to ensure that we can go later if there are still musicians who
would like to play.
As always, there will be food, live music, raffles, door
prizes, 50/50 drawings and items for sale.
Tickets are $10 per person and can
be purchased from HOF Board members or at The Music Shoppe, Rick
Waggoner's State Farm Insurance and The Conservatory of Music
starting in early December, 2009. If you are unable to locate
tickets, call or email us for assistance. Tickets are limited, so be sure to get yours
early. Don't miss out on one of the best parties of the year!!
We are making a number of small changes to the ceremony,
in an attempt to help things move along faster and allow time for more
musicians to perform. We are also asking musicians who
would like to perform to please
use the instruments provided. A lot of time was lost
lost year due to people taking time to set up and tune their own
instruments, pedals, etc., and as a result some inductees did not
get a chance to perform.

The second annual Wabash Valley
Musicians Hall of Fame Picnic and Jam was a tremendous success!!
Crowds were dispersed over the course of the day rather than all
being there at the same time, but attendance was up from last year,
and everyone enjoyed the music, food, car show and motorcycle rally.
Many area musicians showed up, and there were six hours of great
music. If you missed the picnic this year, be sure to make
plans to attend next year so you don't miss out on all of the fun
and music.
Pictures from the 2009 picnic have been posted on a new page.
See the Photo Gallery for a link to the page.

The Hall of Fame
Board has suffered another loss.
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Board member
Frank Crawford. Frank was inducted in 1999 and devoted a lot
of time and effort in service to the Hall. He was highly
regarded by all who knew him. We extend our condolences to his
family.

A new page has been
added to this web site.
We are adding memorials for Hall of Fame inductees who have passed
away. There is a link to the page from the Band of Angels
page. We started the page with the small number of inductees
that we have information about, but we would like to include all
inductees who have passed away. We can't do this without your
help, so if you can contribute information, we would appreciate it.
Please note that, at the current time, we are only posting memorials
for musicians who were inducted before they passed away. We
may expand this in the future, as time and resources permit.

inducted in 2002, but had been involved with Hall from its
inception. He devoted a lot of time and effort to the Hall and
was highly regarded by all who knew him. We extend our

The Hall of Fame is looking for
information on Wabash Valley musicians!! Starting with the
induction class of 2010, we MUST have a completed
questionnaire on file to consider a musician for induction into the
Hall of Fame. The pool of prospective inductees has grown so
large that, without the information provided on the questionnaires,
the job of finding musicians and verifying their eligibility is
nearly impossible.
Please help us out by completing
a questionnaire and sending it to us. You can fill one out
for yourself, or if you know of a deserving musician, you can fill
one out on their behalf. Please go to the HOF
Inductions page for instructions and a link to the questionnaire.
We are also interested in promoting
local bands by offering a little bit of free advertising. Please go to the Local Bands page for details on
how your band can be listed on this site.

Our thanks to the Wabash Valley for a
fantastic 2009 induction ceremony. This was one of the largest
ceremonies we have held, and we appreciate your support.
Please Note: We extend our
apologies to those musicians who did not get an opportunity to get
up and play. There
were so many musicians signed up to perform that we could not
accommodate everyone. We would have extended the ceremony to
allow more people to get on stage, but our host shut us down at 6:00 p.m. Please
join us at the 2nd annual Picnic and Jam (tentatively scheduled for
September 13), when there
will be a lot more time to get musicians up to play. |
