Induction Into the Hall of Fame

The Induction Process

The induction process begins when we receive a questionnaire requesting consideration for induction into the Hall of Fame.  Anyone, including the person wishing to be considered, can submit a questionnaire.  We MUST receive a properly completed questionnaire to consider a person for induction.

The board of directors will verify the information provided on the questionnaire.  As a starting point, the nominee should have spent a portion of their career performing in the area covered by the Hall of Fame (
Indiana counties of Vigo, Clay, Sullivan, Vermillion, Parke, Greene, Putnam and Owen, and Illinois counties of Clark, Edgar and Crawford), be at least 50 years old and have performed for at least 25 years.  Qualified nominees are placed into the "candidate pool".  Each year, the board of directors review the candidate pool and select the nominees who will be inducted at the next induction ceremony.

Since 2006, when the Hall started publicly seeking musicians for induction and increased the area of coverage, the number of requests we receive has grown rapidly. Given the size of the candidate pool, it is unlikely that a person will be inducted immediately after being placed in the pool.  However, those who make it far enough through the process to be placed in the candidate pool will be inducted as expeditiously as possible.

Send Us A Questionnaire

If you would like to be considered for induction, or would like to nominate someone for induction or for the Band of Angels, please complete a questionnaire and send it to us.  

Here's how to complete and send a questionnaire:

   1. PLEASE read the information on the FAQ page before filling out a
       questionnaire.  Click here to open the FAQ page, scroll down to
       and read the 2nd topic, then close the window to return here.

   2. Click here to view the Hall of Fame questionnaire.

   3. To send a paper questionnaire, use your browser's Print function
       to print the page, then complete it and send it to us in one of the
       ways described at the bottom of the form.

   4. To send the questionnaire electronically, use your browser's Save
       As function to save a copy of the questionnaire to your computer.
       Open the file in Notepad, complete the form and save the file.
       Send us an email (see the Contact Us page) and attach the file.

   5. Close the window to return to this screen. 

   6. If you are submitting an entry for the Band of Angels, we would
       appreciate it if you could include a picture of the person to be
       posted on this site.

   7. If you send a questionnaire via email, we will reply to let you know
       we received it.  The time and expense of replying to questionnaires
       received via snail mail is prohibitive at the current time. 

 

Induction Ceremonies

Induction ceremonies are conducted annually.  Activities usually include lunch, the ceremony and a jam session by the inductees and other local musicians (as time permits).  The ceremonies are a great  time to reunite with old friends and listen to some great music.  Watch this site for information on the next induction ceremony.
